San Francisco is famous for many sights, but the most iconic and instantly recognizable one is the Golden Gate Bridge. Unfortunately, at this time of year it’s often covered in fog, so I ended up spending a day — or rather, two days — exploring downtown instead. In contrast to the bridge area, the sun was shining there and the fog was nowhere to be seen.
Before heading downtown, we decided to check the weather at the beach. As you can see, it was rather dull and windy out there…
One of the best elevated viewpoints in San Francisco is Coit Tower, offering a great panorama of downtown and a clear view of Alcatraz from the top.
Pillar tops are only visible, the rest of bridge is hidden.

Another spot well known in SF is Lombard Street, it’s the crookedest street in the world.

We have sneaked in into some private property where we have found another nice view of Alcatraz.
And there is no San Francisco without cable cars !
